Harpy B4, Sunday Late Afternoon

Ugh. So fleeing Ebou Dar in one hell of a hurry, then helping a totally wiped out Karla back to her cabin (and snarking the whole way) before making it back to her own would've been tiring enough as it was; doing it not that many hours after getting both arms freaking dislocated in a fight was worse. Throw in the constant ravenous hunger-- because she didn't have enough of an appetite on a regular basis as it was, apparently-- that she'd been stuck with ever since Nynaeve'd healed her (and that was still kind of freaky if she let herself think about it, so she wasn't) and really, the wittiest summary of the entire situation Kennedy could come up with was Ugh.

She'd stopped outside the cabin long enough to call in a delivery order from Pizza Planet and one from Ching Tai, and no, she was not going to take no for an answer from anyone as far as delivering to the campground went, she would pay whatever she had to as long as they made it happen now, thank you very much. And now, having barely flopped onto her alcove bed with her eyes shut, it hit her that they had to move back out of the cabins tonight.

Kennedy really ought to be ecstatic about that, but right now?

Ugh.

Sookie was working on packing, and actually in a decent mood, when she 'heard,' (really, 'sensed' was the better term here) Kennedy enter the cabin. Really, it was hard to miss that sort of mood, repaired shields or no.

Having been disappointed when she'd arrived back from Bon Temps (by way of the dorms) to an empty B4, Sookie was compelled to walk over to the other side of the cabin and gingerly knock lightly on the doorframe. "Busy weekend?"

"Sookie, hey," Kennedy began, sitting up halfway. "Kinda crazy, yeah. Uh. Long story, but Karla and I and a couple of people were visiting Mat's world for the weekend and things went insane."

And now she was freaking starving. So annoying.

"Karla told me, by the way. Some of what went down. So this is me, glad you're back. Come on in."

She did venture in, arching an eyebrow at Kennedy. "You look tired," she remarked, smiling a little. "Don't have to be a telepath to tell that much. Are you all right? And Mat?" She might have slapped him once, but he'd at least been sweet to her after that.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Kennedy assured her nonchalantly, thinking that was a hell of a thing to be able to say hours after getting her arms yanked out of their sockets. "Mat managed to, like, piss off every homeless person in the city and there was a big-ass brawl. That was yesterday. Today we ended up going after some stupid bowl, and there was more fighting, and then we had to get the hell out of there . . . yeah."

She swung her legs over the side of the bed and indicated the end of it (which, for once, was clear of spare clothes since she'd kicked them onto the floor) in case Sookie wanted to sit.

"So I'm pretty freaking exhausted. Mat's fine, too." Or had been when they left, anyway. She didn't know about the wall, what the hell.

She took a seat, worriedly glancing over Kennedy for injuries. "I'm not surprised that Mat managed to make everyone mad at him," she commented lightly, "but why a bowl? Like, as in the things you eat cereal out of? Or like as in 'rose' and 'super'?"

"No, like, an artifact kind of bowl," Kennedy clarified. "So probably not what you'd use for breakfast, but not so much big enough to fit a football team. Something about controlling the weather? That was a little fuzzy in all the insanity." And unconsciousness. La la la.

She smiled wryly. "Well, the fighting was fun."

"Was it?" she asked, concerned. "And not just...tiring and painful?"

Sookie wasn't really a big fan of the fight she'd personally gotten into the week prior, no.

"Well, it was mostly fun," Kennedy amended. "A little scary, though. Okay, a lot."

More than she felt like talking about, so: "How about you? Snapping back okay?"

"Ish," she said honestly. "How much did Karla tell you? 'Cause there's a lot to snap back from." She paused, and added, "This week apparently just effing sucked for people, between me and Mat."

"I didn't get all the details, but I know enough to actually be able to picture Bobby getting really pissed, and believe it," Kennedy replied. "And be sorry I wasn't here like I promised I was gonna be."

Without any of the usual flippant tone she assumed, she added, "Really, really damn glad you're back okay, is all I can say."

"Oh, not just Bobby," Sookie said, eyes wide. "Jono was there too. The guy's got frostbite and third degree burns. And I'm not really sure what Karla and Emma did to him, too, for that matter." She shook her head and added, "And I'm, oddly enough, okay with all of that." She wasn't going to try for a hug, but she did bump her shoulder against Kennedy's and added, "And I'm glad you're back, too, and in one piece. Next week better be damn relaxing."

"Yeah, the look on Karla's face when she said they took care of him was a little with the spine-tingly creep factor." Kennedy instinctively stiffened at the shoulder bump, more than slightly weirded out when it didn't hurt as much as she was expecting it to. Oh, and weirded out by Sookie swearing, but she figured after all that, she got a free pass on it.

"Next week will be relaxing if I have to fucking pay someone to make it happen," she declared.

"If the island so much as decides I should have adorable tapdancing little giraffes invade my room," Sookie agreed, "I'm going to scream. Or at least have to write a strongly-worded letter to someone.

"Hey," Tara said, leaning around the curtain and into the alcove. She looked sheepish but concerned. "Are you okay? Back to normal and everything?"

"Back to normal, yeah," Kennedy replied, scooting over to make room for Tara if she wanted; there were two pizzas stacked up on the stool by the bed, and several containers of Chinese takeout atop that, which... wasn't that much more than her usual food-ordering habit, right? "It was fun. Turns out lots of stuff went down, but we handled it."

Tara sat down and took a slice of pizza, mostly out of habit. She wasn't all that hungry.

"So -- cool," she said. she didn't love the sound of a lot of stuff went down, but she'd swallow her anxiety. "And you weren't like ... hiding behind rocks for the fighting? That's good."

"So not," Kennedy replied, snagging a slice of pizza for herself. It was half gone before she continued a couple of seconds later, "God, that was weird, huh? I felt really bad leaving you behind."

"Don't." Tara shook her head emphatically, took a tiny bite of pizza, then: "I sang dirty songs in my bra. I d-d-don't even know those songs!"

"Aww, babe." Kennedy reached up (still appreciating having functional arms again) to trace light circles against her back. "I actually thought you were kind of hot. Hell, if I hadn't been acting the way I was I might've just jumped you right there in the booth..."

Yeah, she was back to being herself again.

"Kennedy!" Tara squeaked. "It's so good you couldn't, 'cause I -- I would have let you!"

And this was a bad thing. Really.

... yep. Things were back to normal.

Kennedy burst out laughing. "Is it my fault I think you're irresistible no matter what? Besides, you can't say it wouldn't have been fun. I mean, for the record, I'd still do it even if you weren't dressed like that."

Definitely back to normal. There was no bad here.

Tara folded her arms and tried to look stern, though there was a smile twitching around somewhere under there.

"You'd make out with me in a booth at Caritas?" she repeated, pinkening a little. "... wow. You, uh, you don't even pretend to have shame, do you?"

Which did not mean she disagreed about it being fun.

"Oh, making out with you would just be the warmup," Kennedy declared, waggling her eyebrows. "'cause shame is for people so not me, Friday notwithstanding. Speaking of, grab my phone off the pizza box, will you? There's something that'll take your mind off the weirdness."

"... okay?" Tara said, intrigued and laughing a bit. She grabbed the phone and passed it over. "There. share."

Kennedy pulled up the photos on the phone and paged through to a particularly good shot Karla had gotten of her in the stupid Ebou Dari dress, complete with feathers and the ridiculous... cleavage-window thing.

"Good thing you're sitting down," she said, handing the phone over to Tara.
