Kennedy didn't have any Monday classes this semester, which was never a thing she'd complain about, but today that had bonus benefits-- mostly because it made things slightly less hectic when she got last-minute notice that she'd have a friend coming in for a visit, Wesley. Only slightly less hectic, though. She was used to Willow's freakouts by now, and had expected one due to the near-surprise factor here, but either she wasn't in the loop about something or she'd just misjudged-- she was leaning toward the latter-- because she honestly hadn't expected her girlfriend to get quite as weird and flaily about this as she did.
So it had been a little awkward when he'd showed up, but now that Willow had headed off to class Kennedy and Wesley had been left to their own devices.
"It's a little slow on the demony front this week," she was saying apologetically, sprawled out in an armchair while she scrolled through emails on her phone, "but if you really need to get your nerd on at some point I'm pretty sure we can come up with something."

"The quiet here must be rather nice, after Fandom and the Hellmouth," he observed. "Actually, this whole place is rather nice in general."
Not that he was scoping out other places to live back in his own dimension or anything. Nooo.

She sighed, put her phone down, and lolled her head back to look at him. "Sorry about Will, by the way. I'm not sure why she's being kinda weird. Also, by the way, you kind of look like hell."
Kennedy, master of diplomacy, y'all.

Date: 2013-02-25 09:47 pm (UTC)"Hey, talk away." Kennedy spread her hands. "Had to be a reason you dropped in for a surprise visit, huh? I mean, you're not exactly spur-of-the-moment guy."

Date: 2013-02-25 10:23 pm (UTC)Something like that.
"Well, I suppose I should start with the fact that about three months ago, Angel and Darla gave birth to a human son."
And he could go on from there, really, but -- vampire baby. He supposed he ought to at least hold for gasps, or something.

Date: 2013-02-25 10:28 pm (UTC)"It's what I'm here for. Being a horrible influence," Kennedy began, but stopped with her mouth hanging open when the 'human son' bit caught up to her.
"...waaaaaaaaaaait a second." This sounded vaguely familiar, but in a passing someone-made-a-reference-that-eluded-her-once kind of way. "Not that they covered this in any of my bio classes, but... vampires. Reproduction."
She waved both hands around. "These are not mixy things! Unless they involve biting and for once I wish my mind didn't immediately go there, oh god." COULD NOT UNSEE.

Date: 2013-02-25 10:39 pm (UTC)He was going to cherish it always in the part of his brain that was on reserve for in case a demon ever came to town who preyed on people's happy emotions. He could just whip out that visual and suddenly, boom. No happiness, only grossness.
"Naturally, I did my best to get ahold of relevant texts that might shed some light on the situation, which is a rather time-consuming process regardless of what Fred and Charles might think--" Wes, maybe tone down the obvious annoyance. "In any event, a week ago, I translated a portion of a prophecy which stated that Angel will eventually kill the child. And I... wasn't quite sure what to do with that information."
This was where the shame kind of set in, because yeah, his plan wasn't looking so hot in hindsight.

Date: 2013-02-25 10:43 pm (UTC)"Okay, and...?" she prompted, looking like she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to know. "I mean, one way or another I'm pretty sure this doesn't end well for someone."
no subject
Date: 2013-02-25 11:50 pm (UTC)"Well, I've heard quite a bit about self-fulfilling prophecies," Wesley began, just a little bit defensive. "And I've had... problems with sharing my translations with Angel before. So I, ah, I thought I'd take Connor -- that's his son -- anywhere safe while I could figure or what to do. But I was, er. Intercepted."

Date: 2013-02-26 12:27 am (UTC)She sat up, though, looking more serious. "And by 'intercepted,' you mean what kind of bad went down exactly?"

"I was... on my way to a portal when a recent enemy of Angel's approached me and cut my throat," Wesley sighed, unconsciously tilting his neck so the scar was visible. "I haven't been kept abreast of the developments after that--" in large part because he was hiding in another universe's Brazil, so-- "But it's my understanding that she took Connor after, er... that."

Date: 2013-02-26 02:57 am (UTC)"Cut your--" Kennedy practically leaped out of her chair, startling Bailey, who'd just surfaced from the newspaper nest in his cage. "Jesus!"
She looked furious, now, the way she tended to do when people fucked with her friends. Though, she realized, this probably explained some things about why the other Wesley here was... well, the way he was.
"You don't know where he is now?"
no subject
Date: 2013-02-26 03:18 am (UTC)Wes needed to work on reasonable deduction.
"I don't," he confirmed, a little more quietly than he'd been before. "I'd... ask Angel, but I'm sure he doesn't want to hear from me right now. It's just a bit of a mess."

Date: 2013-02-26 05:17 am (UTC)Yeah, he definitely wasn't dragging people into a hell dimension again. That was a one-time-only kind of deal.
"I think I'd better just... wait to hear from Cordy that it's all right to go back," he sighed. It was the most flawed argument ever, but it was all he had, so. "Not to presume that I can stay here until -- er. That is, I think time moves faster here than in my world anwyay, so it's not as though I expect to, er, mooch off of you and Willow for very long."
no subject
Date: 2013-02-26 05:51 am (UTC)"...as you might remember. Did she yell at you for that one?"
Not helping, Kennedy.
"Anyway. Stay as long as you need to. It's cool. Hell, if you need someone to knock heads together so you can go home, I'm good for that, too."
no subject
Date: 2013-02-26 07:12 pm (UTC)And he had learned his lesson! No more field trips to hell dimensions. Well, no more surprise ones. Maybe preplanned ones were still okay.
"How are the two of you, by the way?"

Date: 2013-02-26 11:31 pm (UTC)She glanced around the apartment and smiled. "We're good. Will's been sort of stressed out lately, so I try to give her her space, but I think we have this whole personal life versus professional life thing down now."
