It had been a really quiet kind of week, at least when it came to her not-day job, and the most Kennedy had gotten to contribute to the whole evil-fighting cause in the past few days had been a quick trip to Rhode Island to track down a newly-located Slayer. That hadn't gone so well (in Kennedy's opinion) since the girl wasn't interested in the job, but since opportunities weren't a thing to waste it ended up being a nice weekend vacation for her and Willow.

Which probably accounted for a good portion of her good mood by the time she got into the office. Lucky anybody who had to deal with her today.

Almost as if she could sense Kennedy's good mood from Kaeleer, Raven decided to pay a visit. "You seem very happy," the Mistress of the Obvious stated as she stepped into the doorway.

"God, Raven," Kennedy replied right on cue, rolling her eyes playfully. Also, in no way denying the observation. "I had a mini-vacation thing. Puts a girl in a good mood, you know?"

She leaned back in her chair and put her feet up on her desk, but gestured to one of the visitors' chairs. "Haven't seen you in forever. Where've you been?"

"In Kaeleer, mostly," Raven said, dropping herself into one of the chairs. "Karla asked me to go home with her for the summer. I am still here each Sunday to open the library, however."

"Sure, be here on one of the days I'm not." Kennedy wasn't actually whining about that, but if it sounded like she was, well... Kennedy. "Gotta say, now that I'm doing the whole commute-to-work thing? I'm a little jealous of your teleporting mojo."

"It does make going back and forth much easier," Raven said, unable to suppress a little tingle of pride. "But you know any time you are in need of getting some place quickly, I would be happy to assist you."

Demon attacks. Booty calls. Whatever.

Yeah, there was no chance of getting a pride detox around Kennedy, Raven. Sorry, but no.

"I'm pretty set with my Portalocity arrangement for getting to and from here," she admitted. "But I might call that one in if some bad goes down and I need to be somewhere else in a hurry."

Maybe that was why Raven liked Kennedy so much. Instant Pride high!

"I would rather it be for some good reason, I must admit," Raven said. "Like whatever has caused this mood today. You must share with me what happened on this vacation."

Kennedy let a lazy but broad smirk cross her face. "You really wanna know? 'cause usually this stuff makes you go all red and embarrassed."

Predictably, Raven's cheeks turned red. "I do not need all the details!" she said. "Though now I am certain that your vacation involved spending time with your girlfriend."

"Well." Kennedy tried-- tried-- to look dignified and professional, but mostly it ended up self-satisfied. "It was supposed to be a work thing, but that didn't pan out, so... hey, a couple of days' downtime. I thought it was going to be boring, but it was actually kinda nice."

"Then I am very glad you had the opportunity," Raven said. And not because she could get a little empathic contact high from it. "After all that you experienced, you deserve many such moments."

GOD, RAVEN.

"Well, yeah," Kennedy said, as if that should be a given. "I don't mind not getting 'em too often, 'cause I like what I do, but a little quality down time?"

Yes, that was a completely unsubtle eyebrow waggle.

"I'm pretty cool with that, too."

Raven had to duck her head at the eyebrow waggle to hide the fact that she was blushing even more now. Azar, Kennedy!

"Will you be remaining in Fandom for the rest of the summer?" she asked. "Teaching?"

Probably didn't help much that Kennedy was entertaining some pretty visual memories of the weekend either, huh?

"That's the plan, yeah," she confirmed. "Nice work if you can get it, right? Hang out in Fandom, see my friends, make sure the next generation has things under control here..."

Stop it, Kennedy, you were going to make her squirm.

"Good," she said. "That pleases me. I sometimes find myself worried that any time you leave you may find yourself cut off from Fandom again, though I hope that will never happen."

That logic worked on people who had shame, Raven.

"I really hope not, too," Kennedy said, her smile fading into a more serious expression. "I can only threaten to sue Portalocity so many times, you know?"

Okay, not that much more serious.

"I am certain they find you very intimidating," Raven said. In fact, she almost wished she could be there to see it. With popcorn, of course.

"Duh," Kennedy replied, spreading her hands, as if she expected everyone to think her short-ass self was scary. "Still, portals are not exactly my best friends."

"I find them somewhat unnerving myself," Raven agreed. Technology to move through space and time was just unnatural.

"How are things for you back home?" she asked. "Is it still very dangerous for you?"

[brat_inslayage]

"Nah," Kennedy assured her. "I mean-- it's dangerous, yeah, but in a normal, everyday, 'stake a few vamps and bust up the occasional demon ritual' kind of way. Not end-of-the-world type dangerous."

The world's most reliable scale of danger, folks.

"Besides, between me and Will, we've pretty much got the ass-kicking covered."

"And you have plenty of experience with ending demon rituals," Raven said lightly. Unfortunately, much of it thanks to her.

"Will Willow ever visit you here? I would very much like to meet her." And see if she met with her approval.

[brat_inslayage]

Kennedy looked almost uncomfortable for just a moment. "That, I don't know. She was supposed to come to graduation with me, but that didn't pan out, and she's pretty busy herself. Classes and witchy stuff and..."

And, you know, massive potential for timebreaky awkward.

"But hey. Invitation's open if you want to pop over to my world for a bit. You two might have something in common, actually."

"I would love to come visit," Raven said, picking up on Kennedy's discomfort and wondering if she should ask why. She was probably better off not knowing, though.

"Things have been very quiet in Kaeleer, so I am sure it would be no trouble to get away," she said.

[brat_inslayage]

"Well, if you ever get bored, there's plenty to do with my bunch of friends," Kennedy promised, flashing a quick smile. "Giles is too polite and British to grill you about what your world's like, but Andrew might if you're not careful. And I really would love to get you and Will talking. You can start a whole 'went evil and tried to end the world but got better' club."

Still a long way to go in those tact lessons, Kennedy.
